Sodium hypochlorite, also known as sodium hypochlorite acid or the sodium salt of hypochlorous acid, is an inorganic chemical compound obtained by saturating an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide with chlorine. This compound is very unstable in its free state and is usually used in the form of an aqueous solution.
Appearance: A liquid of a greenish‑yellow color.
Application:
Grade A sodium hypochlorite is used for disinfecting drinking and pool water, disinfection, bleaching of fabrics and paper, and also in the chemical industry. Grade B is used as an oxidizing agent in the production of vitamins and for bleaching textile materials.
Packaging:
Sodium hypochlorite is transported in steel lined tanks with an overhead drain (for rail and road transport), as well as in polyethylene or fiberglass containers, in Euro cubes. It is permissible to use polyethylene barrels with a volume of 10 to 200 liters for its transportation and storage.
Storage conditions:
Store in a hermetically sealed container, away from direct sunlight, in a cool and dry place. Avoid contact with acids and organic substances.
